Game Caption uses camera access only to detect text on a TV, monitor, or game screen. Camera images are processed on the device. The app does not record images.
The app converts on-screen text into text using OCR technology. Depending on the selected translation mode, this text may be processed:
Camera images, video streams, or photo files are not sent to Gemini or the voice translation backend. Only text extracted by OCR is processed.
Purchases are processed by Apple StoreKit. Game Caption does not see or store your credit card or payment information. To verify Premium, Premium AI, and Professional subscriptions, subscription transaction information provided by Apple may be checked in our secure backend system.
Game Caption may use Firebase Authentication, Cloud Functions, and Firestore for anonymous user identification, subscription verification, daily usage limits, free trial eligibility, and abuse prevention. This information is used to operate the app, protect entitlements, and control costs.
To reduce unnecessary costs for repeated text and speed up the app, some translation or audio data may be cached. This data is not used to create personal profiles, show ads, or track users.
Game Caption does not show ads. It does not use user data for advertising tracking and does not share it with third-party advertising networks.
If a user contacts us for support, the email address and message content they send are used only to respond to the support request.
API keys and sensitive information are not embedded inside the app. Gemini and voice translation access are controlled through the backend. The user’s DeepL API key is stored in the device’s Keychain area.
